Weddings in Yemen

Weddings in Yemen began as an attempt to document wedding traditions across different parts of the country.

My intention was to photograph several weddings in different regions, looking at how celebration, clothing, rituals and social life changed from one place to another. I was only able to photograph part of what I had planned before leaving Yemen.

The project has remained unfinished ever since.

Years later, I still think of it as an open project rather than a completed series. I hope to return to it one day, revisiting the places I knew and discovering how these traditions, and the lives around them, may have changed with time.
